Foundation Project:

Back to School Drive

Back to School Drive is an annual Foundation project.
The project runs from August through October each year.
Before the start of the school year, thousands of caregiver families face a major challenge: getting a child ready for school. A backpack, school supplies, clothes, and shoes can be expensive, and for families raising orphaned children, these costs can become overwhelming.

This Project Helps Children

Start the School Year with Confidence

Project Goal
A Foundation project coordinator helps children prepare for school
Back to School Drive is an annual Grow Up in a Family initiative created to help orphaned children get everything they need for the start of the school year. We provide backpacks, school supplies, clothing, and shoes — the essentials children need to feel confident among their classmates.

The main goal of the project is to help more than 1,700 orphaned children from frontline areas and other regions of Ukraine get everything they need for school. Some children receive ready-made school kits, while others, together with their caregivers, can choose clothes and shoes themselves at partner stores.
Caregiver families carry enormous responsibility and financial pressure. Thanks to the support of our donors, we help ease part of that burden and give children the things they need to focus on learning and starting the school year with confidence.

How It Works

School Preparation

6 Steps:

A child and an adult choose school supplies at a store
1
Gathering Information About Children’s Needs

We receive lists from regions and local communities with each child’s age, clothing and shoe sizes, and basic school supply needs. Based on this information, we plan purchases and prepare the budget.

2
Planning the Support Format

For some children, we prepare ready-made school kits with supplies. For others, we organize school shopping at partner stores, where each child can choose clothing and shoes that suit them.

3
Purchasing Essential Items

We purchase school supplies, backpacks, and creative materials from trusted suppliers, while clothing and footwear are arranged through partner retail stores. These include LC Waikiki and other partners.

4
School Shopping for Children and Caregivers

Children visit stores with their caregivers to choose essential items for school and everyday life. For them, it is not just shopping — it is an opportunity to choose what they genuinely like rather than simply accept what is available. Small surprises from our partners often make the experience even more special.

5
Delivering School Kits to the Regions

Ready-made school kits with supplies are delivered to local communities, frontline areas, and other regions of Ukraine. Caregivers receive everything children need to get ready for school, without being left to handle it on their own.

6
Photo, Video, and Financial Reporting for Donors

We share children’s stories, publish photo and video updates, and provide financial reports on each fundraiser so every donor can see how their contribution turns into real change.

Where the Money Goes

From This Fundraiser
Your Contribution Makes a Real Difference
Your donation turns into useful, practical items that a child can take to school every day. Every contribution is a real action that helps give a specific child a stronger start to the school year.

Backpacks and School Bags

Quality options for different ages, from younger students to teenagers.

School Supplies

Notebooks, pens, paints, pencil cases, markers, and creative kits that help children learn and grow.

School Uniforms

Basic clothing sets that help children feel comfortable both at school and in everyday life.

Logistics and Coordination

Delivery and travel arrangements so children and their caregivers can choose the items they need in person.

Indoor Shoes and Sportswear

Essential items for physical education and everyday school life.

Administrative Costs

Minimum expenses related to project implementation, partner coordination, and donor reporting.

That is exactly the feeling we want to give children. As part of the Back to School Drive, children go shopping with their caregivers, choose the things they like, try them on, smile, and feel happy. It is not just about shopping. It is about dignity, freedom of choice, and knowing that their opinion matters.

Do you remember how a new jacket or backpack made you feel like the happiest person in the world as a child? How you wanted to put it on right away, even at home, just to feel a little more grown-up and special?

Thanks to your support, children receive more than school supplies. They get a small celebration — a day when they can choose warm clothes, shoes, backpacks, and accessories for themselves, just the way they like. We purchase the essential items, organize shopping trips, and help children and their caregivers choose quality products that fit their needs.
Every contribution turns into a specific purchase, a warm feeling of care, and the confidence a child carries back into the classroom — not with something simply handed to them, but with something they chose themselves.

Project in Action

Back to School Drive
The fundraiser launched in 2024.
The first funds raised were used to purchase school supplies for 500 orphaned children from frontline areas and other regions of Ukraine.

In 2025, another 150 children were able to choose clothing and shoes for the new school year at partner stores. With the support of our partners, each shopping trip became a small celebration for the children.

We continue working so every child can start the new school year with confidence.
